As with most technologies, there is more than one way to set up a contact us page in Joomla. A few techniques are described below. Before doing any of these methods, however, you need to log into the administrator panel of your Joomla website.

To do this, go to

http://www.YourDomainName.com/administrator

A simple article and menu item can be used.

Under the content menu, select Article Manager. Once in the article manager, create a new article by clicking on the green plus symbol. Give our article a title, which in this case will probably be Contact Us. Joomla will create the alias automatically if you do not type one in. The alias is used in the dynamically created URL. Make sure the Published radio button is set to Yes and the Front Page radio button is set to No. Select a Section and Category for the article.

Write your contact information in the article section. You can mention your hours, import a map, put in a phone number and email address, or whatever you feel like having on your Contact Us page. Save the article.

Go to the Menus menu item and select the name of your main menu. It is probably Top or Main and it likely has an asterisk after it. Create a new menu item by clicking on the green plus sign button labeled New. Expand the articles link under Internal Link. Click on Article Layout under the Article SubMenu. Type in Contact Us in the Title field. Make sure the Published radio button is set to Yes. On the right hand side of the screen, under Parameters(Basic), Select the Contact Us article you wrote. ClickSave.

Go to your Joomla site and check out your menu item that says Contact Us and links to the Contact Us article you created.

Create a Contact Us page using the Contacts component.

The advantage to this method is that the contact component creates a form. You can hide your email address, if you wish, and people can contact you through a form.

Select Contacts under the Component menu item.

Click on Categories. Click New. Type in the name of a category. If you will have a lot of contacts, you might put in a category for admin, technical, and financial. If you are just going to have one or two contacts, just create a category with any name, like default or your company name. Hit the Save button.

Go to the Contacts link, which is just below the big category manager text and next to the link for categories. Click on the New button, a green plus sign. Create a generic contact for your company, or use one specific person. So, for name, you can either put your name or you can put "Info" or "Tech Support" or "Customer Support." Fill out the contact page. Then, on the right hand side, under Parameters, check the Show radio button for any of the pieces of information you want visible. Click the Save button.

Go to the Menus menu item and select the name of your main menu. It is probably Top or Main and it likely has an asterisk after it. Create a new menu item by clicking on the green plus sign button labeled New. Click on the Contacts link to expand it and then select Standard Contact Layout. Enter in Contact Us in the title field and make sure the Published radio button is set to Yes. On the right hand side, under Parameters (Basic), select the contact you created. Click Save.

Go to your Joomla site and check out your menu item that says Contact Us and links to the Contact Us article you created.

Use a form component to create a Contact Us page.

Since there are so many form extensions, I can not give detailed instructions for how to do this. The overview is, however, to install your form program. Create the form. Then, create a menu item that loads that particular form.
